New Orange Lodge to Promote Reformation Truth

New Orange Lodge to Promote Reformation Truth 2017-04-06T01:40:12+01:00

Project Description

A new Orange lodge has been formed in County Down to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation this year.

Reformation Truth Defenders LOL 1521 will be part of Newtownards District No 4. The new lodge was formally instituted at the Museum of Orange Heritage at Sloan’s House, Loughgall, on 27 January 2017. Members will meet regularly in Craigantlet Orange hall.

Newtownards District Master Mark McDonald presented the lodge warrant and also installed the lodge’s first officers, assisted by the County Grand Master of County Armagh, Denis Watson, and County Secretary Roger Gardiner.

The lodge has been named to commemorate the evangelical landmark and members will aim to promote the Biblical truths that were rediscovered at the Reformation five centuries ago.

The lodge formation comes ahead of a major Reformation rally in Portadown on Saturday 6 May. The event is being jointly organised by the Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland and the Royal Black Institution as part of their Luther 500 project.
